Summer Travel Essentials Jo Malone

Summer Travel Essentials Jo Malone Candice Lake I recently shared my Australian Summer Travel Essentials with Jo Malone.

There is something almost spiritual about summer in Australia, which is why in the 12 years I’ve lived overseas I haven’t missed one yet. As the days become shorter in London and the air icy, I begin to long for those hot summer days soaking up the sun, exploring the bush and having the cool ocean breeze kiss my skin.

I am the world’s worst packer when it comes to work and just bring all my favourite things and figure it out when I arrive. Ironically, when I come home to Australia, I pack very minimally and am incredibly organised.

My suitcase is usually largely taken up by presents for my family and things for my son Arden – he’s taken over my suitcase!

I always pack at least five swimsuits from my favourite Aussie designers, Ephemera and Zimmermann. I wear a lot of my own line, Candidate by Candice Lake, and have a multitude of hats and Turkish towels on rotation that I’ve picked up on my travels.

The only scent I wear during the summer, when I’ve washed away the day, is Jo Malone London’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne. It’s the freshest scent – ocean in a bottle – and perfect for dancing the night away under the stars.

My skin is dry at the best of times, so after all the salt water, I like to hydrate and nourish my skin with Jo Malone London Body Crème.

I’m really relaxed about my beauty regimen but crazy about my hair. After years of searching, I’ve found the two perfect colourists: Christine at Valonz in Sydney and Christopher-John at Privé in New York, which is slightly impractical considering I live in London!

They know how to make my naturally blonde hair just a touch blonder, without looking like Barbie, a surprisingly near impossible task for most colourists.

However, when I’m in Australia, I let my hair go wild. I love how the salt water gives my hair lots of body and a natural curl – which is lucky considering my parents live in Noosa and my husband’s parents live on Sydney’s Northern beaches.  We generally set up camp and stay between them for the whole trip.

In Palm Beach I love The Boathouse for breakfast after an early morning swim and Cranky Fins for late afternoon drinks with friends where you can let your hair down after a day in the sun and roll into dinner.
